You get all of my five, and all of my respect. I could see a professional orchestra playing this, if this isn't already. It sounds more like a high quality VST than a real orchestra though. It's hard to tell these days :s

All VSTs here my friend, but I agree -- they're getting close! It'll be a while yet before VSTs fool the true audiophiles out there, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Though many of composers rely heavily on VSTs, there are huge advantages to working with real orchestras. I hope VSTs never fully replace them, because all of the great orchestras in the world will be even more crunched for funding than they already are. Though I really enjoy working with technology as I write, it will never replace the adrenaline-rush of hearing a live orchestra performing my music!

Focus on having lots of variation. I can see this track being boring and repetitive if you aren't careful.

I can't give a specific review, because I didn't pay attention while listening, but Its really chill and cool the whole time, it has pleasant melodies and sounds. ouob

Work on the mastering. The kick is too loud, and if you put light to mild compression on the whole track, it'll glue together a little better. I can hear some things distorting slightly, but not in the warm, tube-sounding way that everyone loves.

I did really like the band-pass-filter-wubs a lot.
They sound like a person *A*
oh, and DUB-STEP (Double Step) is almost exclusively based on a 2/4 pattern, try to keep that in mind.

The kick is loud because i like it that way, the master bus compressor on the overall mix is set to a threshold of -9.21 db (virtually non existant for edm) the compression ratio is 2:1 the lowest setting on an ssl mixing desk, the attack time is set to 0.3 ms, release on auto, make up gain 6.65 db to land me at an output of 0 db. (neutral output)

What you're telling me is that you're missing the hardcore compression of all those records you love so much and mistaking it for no compression being present at all, i apologise for being a pacifist in the loudness war. (tube sound my ass, distortion you're used to i say)

The filter cut off routing on the modular synths is due to due low pass filters with minimal filter envelope and high resonance, so unfortunately no sophisticated band pass modulation.

The actual sonic artifacts will most likely be due to the digital bit crusher i've used which is not entirely bug free yet and i'm an early adopter of the plug in, i've a digital and hardware limiter set to brickwall any genuine distortion, thus any noise is as is.

Dub is a reggae offshoot, a bastard child of the era when samplers and delay units became somewhat affordable, step comes from 2 step which was a fad in the 90s after people grew bored with the amen break fundamental to drum and bass, thus i can insert a 3/4 pattern if it suits me since genres are at best defined marginally on this website.
